Review of Absence Reasons

Dear Canyon Creek Families,

There has seemed to be some confusion about absences and what is considered an excused absence and what is not. Below are some of the rules we have listed in the handbook regarding absences. Thank you for taking the time to review these.

Reporting Absences:

1. parents are asked to call our attendance hotline prior to 9:00 a.m. or send a note to excuse student absences

2. Absences will not be excused unless the school receives a phone call or note, signed and dated by the parent, stating the reason for the student's absence

Excused Absences:

1. Personal illness

2. Appointments with health professionals

3. Legal appointments

4. Emergency family situations

Calling in a student will either mark it as an excused absence or unexcused absence, based on the reason. Not calling in a student at all will mark the student as truant and will result in you being notified by our automated system.

Hopefully, after reviewing these rules we have cleared up any confusion.

Sincerely,

Canyon Creek Office Staff

Medications at School

Parents, if your child(ren) needs medication administered at the school, you must complete a Medication Consent Form. This form must be completed for both prescription and non-prescription medication. A doctor's signature is required for all prescription medication.

If your child(ren) use an inhaler, he/she may keep it in his/her backpack, but an Asthma Health Plan Form and Medication Consent Form must be filled out.

If your child(ren) have an allergy that the school should be aware of, then the Emergency Care Plan Sheet and Medication Consent Form must be filled out.

A Holiday Message from Mr. Lipp....

Dear Canyon Creek Families,

Kicking off the holiday season this year, we had a very enjoyable Thanksgiving dinner provided by our school cooks. The food was great and the gathering of the community was a lot of fun. I would like to thank all of the school staff and volunteers, as well as all of the individuals that attended, for continuing such a wonderful school tradition. Awesome!

Please join us on December 12th, 6:30 pm in the gym for our Holiday concert. Mrs. Murphy and her student's (grades k-5 & junior high band) have been working very hard to put together a top notch production for you this holiday season. I can't wait for the students to share their musical talents with our community. Please join us in this wonderful celebration.

The holiday season is a very special time for families and our community to carry on special traditions and spend time with one another. Unfortunately, some families find this time to be very stressful due to the financial difficulties the holiday season can place on them. At Canyon Creek we try very hard to help these families out be coordinating a giving tree fund that helps families during the holidays. This year, once again we are asking our school community to help us out with our Annual Giving Tree. We have several families that are in need of essential items and clothing to make the winter more tolerable. If you are interested in helping out with this wonderful event, please stop in at the office and pick up an ornament from the Giving Tree to help a child have a better Christmas. We cannot thank the community enough in the help we have received in the past and already this year. I am so impressed by the kindness and generosity people have in helping these families out. Thanks to all of you that have made this possible.

Happy Holidays,

Brent Lipp

Giving Tree December 2017

Our Giving Tree has made a wonderful kick off so far! Thank you to everyone who has already grabbed a tag, or a couple, from our tree! There are still quite a few to go though! Please consider taking a tag from our Giving Tree and helping make a child's Christmas this season extra special!

Tags must be checked out with the office staff. Gifts are due back to the office by December 15th. They must be wrapped and have the tag attached to the gift.

If you have any questions, please call Ms. Egan at 406-656-4471.

Thank you so much everyone and Happy Holidays!
